24.1/2 km. (15 miles) away from Peshawar is the 228 meters (750 feet) long and 71 meters (235 feet) high Warsak Dam, built on the river Kabul in 1955-60. It has created a 42 km. (26 miles) long lake upstream of the dam, which is a favorite picnic spot. This multipurpose dam supplies water for irrigating Peshawar valley and generates 160,000 KW of electricity.
